Update January 2009: The PRASA has invested aproximatelly $6 million dollars in the elimination of Colomer’s pumping station, which impacted the Condado Lagoon. It is also investing funds in the maintenance of the collection systems that reaches Puerto Nuevo’s treatment plant, which prevents sewer overflows.
Previous update: Despite the complexity of this action, EPA, PRASA, and DNER are moving forward with its implementation. The SJBEP also serves as the main contact between communities and these agencies. Even though there still are discharges to certain areas in the SJBE, the common consensus is that these have decreased throughout the years.
An update of this activity will be send to the SJBEP from PRASA and the EQB during 2008.
