| Update |
Update March, 2012: As part of the buildings at Pier # 6 of the San Juan Bay and the redevelopment of the entire waterfront of San Juan, as part of Urban Bay, at one point called "Triángulo Dorado", Golden Triangle, then called "San Juan Water Front ", now called Urban Bay, the same project under different names. We have monitored a series of water bodies near the are, studying the sediments in the water column to measure the impact of urban sprawl activities in the area. It is a place of intense redevelopment now. There is a great demolitions, green space is planned for public access to areas of the bay and is a development of re-densification of areas adjacent to the bay. SJBE applauds the fact that the re-densification and that is the opposite of sprawl. So that itself is in the right direction. If the re-densification attached to multipurpose fields. So not only as in the urban sprawl used the division. Where we have an exclusive residential area, a parking area, a retail area or shopping centers, other medical offices, etc. Then everything is, which is the definition of sprawl off each other all the vital areas of development of citizens therefore have to use cars to go everywhere. What is being proposed is the re-densification and make multipurpose spaces. Update January 2010: The DNER has an inventory with illegal docks in the water bodies of EBSJ. |

| Schedule | Short-Term | |
| Status | In Progress | |
| Update |
Update March, 2012: EPA is regulating the municipalities that have plans for disposal and management of stormwater runoff. The municipality of San Juan has submitted, Carolina also. All the municipalities in the metropolitan area submitted and understand that they were subjected to fines. There is a fine of $ 30,000. daily for violation of NPDES permits. The problem is that over 80% of pollutants entering the ocean are coming by water from rain and storm and sanitary discharges. The EPA has taken drastic measures to force municipalities to raise awareness and control of systems that carry rainwater. They are called NPDES - MS4. During 2007-2009 both, the EPA and the SJBEP have been paying great attention to the issue of pollution from stormwater runoff. Among the actions taken by the SJBEP are: offering workshops on the subject; a media campaign educating citizens not to throw pollutants in stormwater sewers; and volunteer activities where the stormwater sewers are marked with a special sign that have an educational message. For its part, EPA is requiring the municipalities to comply with NPDES permits and gives fines to the municipalities violating these agreements or those who doesn |

| Action | Assess the establishment of non-commercial watercraft special use areas in the SJBE |
| Schedule | Short-Term |
| Status | Pending |
| Update |
Update March, 2012: We work with the designation of no-take zone areas and non-motorized boat traffic on the small island of Isla Verde. This island of Isla Verde, is a protected area that we want to be designated as a Marine Reserve and that the spokesperson or community leader is Mr. Paco López for its ecological richness, where there is great diversity of corals, is a habitat for leatherbacks, manatees and sea urchins among other species. We project we deposed to representative Casado Irizarry the project number is 1385. We just lay down in favor of this project in the area of Isla Verde. This would be considered an area for non-commercial vessels, to wit kayaks, pedal boats and would you take away the area of Islote Verde Island from the coast up a perimeter around the perimeter of Isla Verde no-take zone and non-movement of commercial vessels. The area is dangerous because the currents change continously. There are lobbying to declare "No Takes zone" the area Escambrón, because right now in the area of Escambrón you can fish and snooping, but this is an area for public use and in this situation a person could be harm form a fisherman in the area. The Condado Lagoon is set as a no-take zone and non-commercial circulation. You can only use non-commercial vessels. There are some areas in the estuary where we have that provision people can use commercial vessels. This action is an important and visible one, and will be partially implemented in 2004. |
